Re: ACTC and ACSA Questions??
Mon, October 13, 2003 - 11:04 AMCurrious to the training material on the OS side of the certification. It seemed that the Hardware training material covered alot of what was on the test but really failed on what specificly was covered. After experiencing the Hardware test I am hesitant to do the OS side. -

Re: ACTC and ACSA Questions??
Tue, October 14, 2003 - 1:44 PMHave you checked out <www.training.apple.com> on what the OS classes cover? There is a self assessment test for each course.
I have taken several of the tests. The tests are based from the classroom material. There currently is not an web based OS training at this time. -

Training Classes...
Tue, January 20, 2004 - 7:28 AMThe OS part is giving my staff all kinds of problems. Currently, it appears that you have to go to Canada to get the training. Any chance of a New York training class or some third party company doing tech certification training? -

Re: Training Classes...
Sun, April 11, 2004 - 4:20 PMYou do not require going to canada to get the training. Go to training.apple.com to find out details of our courses. We do in fact have a New York classroom. -

Yes, but the classes we need (for ACDT and ACPT)...
Mon, April 12, 2004 - 2:26 PMaren't tought there. Specifically, the Hardware (9L0-002 and 9L0-204) and Mac OS-X Help Desk Essentials (9L0-400) WHERE YOU CAN TAKE THE TEST AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE CLASS are the classes that we need. They seem to be offered only in Canada and TX, though I heard that one of the local Boces brought one in to LI recently. Any ideas? -

Re: Yes, but the classes we need (for ACDT and ACPT)...
Sun, May 2, 2004 - 10:29 PMThey are all over the US. Go to www.prometric.com . Most of their test centers are where you can take the exam at. If you cannot find how to sign up for the test on prometric's site (I think they need to simplify their site personally) call them. You can then find all the details you need and sign up for the class.

Re: ACTC and ACSA Questions??
Wed, January 28, 2004 - 4:20 PMHello,
I'm curious, where would one even begin in getting Apple certified? (i.e., websites, multimedia, schools, training facilities, books) I've been using windows based pc's for the past few years? And could you recommend to me what I should look for in buying and new apple, I’m thinking about a laptop, and I am a musician.
THKS!

Re: ACTC and ACSA Questions??
Fri, May 18, 2007 - 10:16 AMYes. I'm a veteran and this certainly qualifies and is covered under the GI Bill. Check with your local VA Affairs office if you have questions on how to execute.

Re: ACTC and ACSA Questions??
Sat, May 26, 2007 - 8:02 PMI was a an early advocate for Apple certification. In the day, I was seeing Apple lose market share in school districts I did business with. I noticed that in trying to find some sort of criteria for hiring new IT staff, many districts turned to the MCSA/MCSE certifications as a benchmark. As the districts I was selling into got more Microsoft folks on the staff, and Mac OS systems were marginalized. "You can keep your old Macs, but we won't fix them and you can't buy any new ones" was a common theme in districts in the late 1990's.
My early advocacy earned me a seat as a student in the beta test of the very first Apple OS X system admin class in Cupertino. It was a little rough around the edges, but subsequent classes I attended were very helpful, especially in understanding how to get Server up and running. I took an Apple class to prepare for the ACTC, and studied on my own for the ACHDS. I did well on both tests and took one while at the next computer, a blind guy was getting the questions for the Graduate Record Exam read out loud to him.
If you're going to support Mac OS users for a living, whether you work for yourself, or in some sort of enterprise, you should look at studying for and taking the ACTC. If you are going to install and configure servers, you should study for and take the ACSA. Having these certifications don't guarantee success, but they show you stepped up and that you are serious about your craft.
